DUTADEMOKRASI.COM – Stunting (growing short) is a global health problem in children, caused by malnutrition. This issue is a serious concern especially in poor area where the parents try hard to give their children a nutritious food.
According to the world health organization (WHO) about 155 million children aged five and under currently estimated to be a short body under the average.
Related to that, researcher from the university of Washington have conducted experiment how to prevent stunting in Ecuador. They give children aged from 6-9 months an egg every day for six months.
The result showed that stunting was reduced 47 percent among children who get egg everyday. Yet when the new study begin the group of children who got egg actually shorter than average.
Eggs maybe not to popular in some region because parent concern about allergy problem but however, eggs are one of highly nutritious food that can easily obtainable. Egg can introduced as complimentary or diet food but not for before a four-month old child. (*/mut)
